Vista del Lago’s sprinters had the best day at the Sacramento Meet of Champions on Saturday at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Sacramento City College. In the open meet in the afternoon, the girls’ 4x100-meter relay team of Khendall Turner, Narissa Tsuboi, Jessica Sampson and Emily Cooper placed first in 48.87 seconds, the school’s only winning team on the day. Tsuboi, Sampson and Cooper later teamed with Maddie Ankhelyi to run third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:01.89. Tsuboi also finished third in the 100 meters in 12.76. In the evening invitational, Cooper placed third in the 100 meters in 12.12 and finished sixth in the 200 in 25.46. Ankhelyi, competing in the 1,600, ran fifth in 5:09.10. Other competitors during the open meet including Matt Raymond (sixth, fresh-soph 400 meters, 52.25), Jordan Takeuchi (seventh, fresh-soph discus, 119’), Ian Kennedy (ninth, 1,600 meters, 4:27.61), Jennifer Morgan (tenth, 3,200 meters, 11:40.52), Matt Winkler (11th, fresh-soph 800 meters, 2:02.8) and Marissa Mendez (18th, 1,600 meters, 5:24.53).
