Social media toasted with wine, food at El Dorado Hills Town Center

New 10?s My Neighborhood celebrated Social Media Day Saturday with wine and appetizers at El Dorado Hills? Town Center. Amy Jacobson Kurukawa, web producer for the online news site, said the event was held to bring together the news contributors that include bloggers, writers and photographers as well as the News 10 staff and communities. Skinner Vineyards and Winery, in Fairplay, had a few wines for event goers to sip including Seven Generations a blend of Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier. Food offerings at the Skinner table were provided by The Hub Coffee House and Café located in Town Center. The pastry swirls with chicken, pesto and grilled onion were a hit and gone in moments. Wines from Mount Aukum Winery, Madrona and Lava Cap were also available for sampling. The free event drew a modest crowd of 60 including locals as well as out-of-towners. Doug and Genny Fulp, of Elk Grove, made the drive up Saturday evening to sample El Dorado County wines in the rose garden outdoor area near Cafe? Campanile. ?We are enjoying ourselves on this wonderful Saturday afternoon,? Doug Fulp said. His wife couldn?t have agreed more. ?This is a wonderful. I wanted to say hi to Darla (Givens) as she?s a friend of mine so it was good that we got to see her.? News 10 used the event to announce its 2012 Amazing Viral Race sweepstake contest. Entrants are encouraged to take a photo of themselves at Town Center businesses and e-mail it to The ?race? started July 1 and runs through the end of the month. Multiple entries are encouraged and will increase the submitter?s chance of winning a ?great prize,? according to organizers.
