Two wins this week improved Folsom High’s soccer team’s record to 2-1-1 in the Delta River League and 6-1-4 overall. The Lady Bulldogs posted two shutouts, beating Florin 5-0 on Wednesday and Sheldon 4-0 on Monday. Shea Roberts led the offense with two goals in each game. Katie Edmiston, Lauryn Tully and Danielle Sonnier all scored against Florin, while Haley Dean and Amy Baer found the back of the net against Sheldon. “I felt the team played well against Sheldon and is improving and playing more and more like a team each week,” Folsom coach Mike McBride said. “Shea played well (last week) as usual. She’s such a strong player.” “I usually don’t score that much, but the team has been playing well and setting up me,” Roberts said. “We’re getting better with each game.” Folsom plays host to Monterey Trail on Monday and Pleasant Grove on Wednesday, when it will try to avenge a 2-1 loss suffered to the Eagles on March 31. “To beat Pleasant Grove we’ll have to continue to develop into a team and also put the ball in the net,” McBride said. “The last time we played them we struggled to scored and even though we dominated the game, Pleasant Grove came out ahead.” Roberts added, “We should have beaten them the first time, but we had some errors in the back. If we defend and put some balls in the net we should be OK.”
