In what probably is the final accolade stemming from Folsom High’s Division II state football championship, Folsom football coach Kris Richardson was recently recognized by the California Coaches Association as the high school football Coach of the Year. At the dinner held at the Doubletree Hotel on June 11, Richardson received the award along with the coaches of the year in all the other varsity high school sports offered. Prior to presenting Richardson with a plaque, presenters gave a brief bio on Richardson and talked about the Bulldogs’ season before announcing his name. “It was a great event,” Richardson said. “I felt that this award was pretty special and felt honored to receive it. To be the only football coach chosen as Coach of the Year is special and I’m honored.”
