If you?ve ever thought about learning the game of golf there?s not a better time to do so than now. Empire Ranch Golf Club is offering five, hour-long lessons for $99, a cost that can?t be beat. The program is called Get Golf Ready and kicked off in March and runs through October. Last year 52 adults came through the program. This year Empire Ranch has almost equaled that with 47 people participating in the program. ?The class is designed to get the new golfer ready to golf,? said Empire Ranch Golf Club Pro Ben Hanson. ?We cover a full swing with the driver and fairway iron, a pitch, a chip and a putt. On the last day of the class we take them out on the course and we play as many holes as we can, and I also take them and have them it out of a bunker. They learn every shot they need to know to complete a hole of golf.? Not only do participants learn all the shots they need to know, but it?s the cost that makes this program popular. Five one-hour lessons with Hanson costs $500, but through Get Golf Ready the cost is one-fifth of that. ?The golfer gets really good time and content for the price,? Hanson said. ?Those who graduate from the course also get a discount on range balls and are encouraged to play.? Folsom?s Susan Curry and Karen Lynch of El Dorado Hills recently completed the program and couldn?t say enough good things about it. ?I thought it was a good program and I really liked it,? Lynch said. ?They start you out like you?ve never picked up a club before and they build a skill set so you can go out and play a round of golf.? Lynch has signed up to take the course a second time later this summer. ?If you haven?t played golf before, it really is a lot of information to take in so I wanted to take it again to reinforce what I?ve already learned,? Lynch said. Curry, who had never picked up a club before, loved her introduction into the sport through the Get Golf Ready program. ?It was a blast, just fantastic,? Curry said. ?I?m a cancer survivor and learning to play golf was on my bucket list, as I?d never picked up a golf club in my life. The coaches, Ben Hanson and Morgan Malone, were fantastic. They were always positive and never embarrassed anyone. It exceeded my expectations and I?d recommend it to anyone.? Empire Ranch Golf Club is offering the Get Golf Ready program twice a month through October. For more information contact Empire Ranch Golf Club at 817-8100.
