Katie Pettinghill, MacKenzie Harsch and Doug Vernon led Folsom High in their dual meet against Pleasant Grove held March28. While Folsom’s boys’ and girls’ teams lost to the Eagles, 79-32 and 49-34, respectively, Pettinghill, Harsch and Vernon had solid performances. Pettinghill swept both hurdle races for the girls, setting a meet record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16 seconds, while also winning the 300 hurdles in a personal-best time of 51.5. Harsch claimed the sprints, winning the 100 in 12.92, while also winning the 200 in 27.2, both personal bests. Vernon also set a meet record, triple jumping 44 feet, 7.5 inches, breaking his brother, Gianni’s, record. Vernon also won the 100 meters in 11.6 and took second in the long jump at 21-0. Jim Bryan won the 110 hurdles and was second in the 300 hurdles, 44.9. Vivian Lam also won an event for the girls, running a personal-best 5:38 1,600-meter run. She also placed second in the 3,200 in 12:10. Liz Rufino was second in the pole vault at 5-5. Dave Hanson and Vinnie Morin earned second-place finishes, Hanson in the 400 in 54.4 and Morin in the 800 in 2:13. Blake Shaw took third in the 400 (55.7) and Aaron Burkhead was third in the 200 (25.4). The freshman-sophomore boys and girls also lost to Pleasant Grove, but still had solid performances. Muna Alhamad set meet records in the two distance races, posting personal-best times in the 1,600 (5:34) and 3,200 (12:16). Katie Bock (pole vault, 7-6), Ariana Lewis (100, 13.5; 200, 28.5) and Cameron Estep (discus, 63-2) also won events for the girls. For the boys, Jake Klaiber won the 110 hurdles in 18.0, while Tim Scott claimed the pole vault at 9-0.
