More than 50 arrested in DUI crackdown in Folsom, El Dorado Hills regionBy: Penne Usher, Telegraph Correspondent
A crackdown on drunk driving throughout the region, including El Dorado County and Folsom, resulted in more than 50 arrests.
Quinn Cuthbertson, public information officer for the Placerville office of the California Highway Patrol, said his department made 13 arrests during the New Year’s holiday weekend.
“That number is up from seven from the previous year during the same time period,” he said. “As far as collisions go on New Year’s Eve and day, we had only three that involved a drunk driver – thank goodness.”
The Folsom Police Department joined forces with several law enforcement agencies in the surrounding area to crackdown on drunk drivers.
Just through Dec. 30, officers representing 14 agencies arrested 44 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to an agency press release.
In 2011, 28 DUI arrests occurred during the same time period.
