McCord wins Roseville's Late Model main by nearly five seconds

Mindy McCord blew away the field and drove to her second Late Model victory of the season Saturday night at All American Speedway.

There was a 15-car field at the green flag for the 75-lap main event, but only five finished on the lead lap. McCord took the checkered flag 4.711 seconds in front of two-time reigning track champion Matt Scott.

Jamie Krizysik led the first 13 laps. McCord started fourth, drove to the front on lap 14 and led the rest of the way.

Scott was the No. 1 qualifier at 13.878 seconds around the one-third-mile paved oval, and Chris Scribner won the dash.

Points leader Scott Winters bested 15 cars in the 40-lap Modified feature, and Jason Bamberg was second.

Cody Thompson set the pace for 17 laps before Winters, the top qualifier at 14.244, grabbed the lead.

Gary Glenn won a heat and the dash. Rich Lindgren won the other heat.
David Thompson beat Eric Bocksberger to the checkered flag by 1.792 seconds in the 35-lap Bomber main. Thompson and Richard Perez swapped the lead until Thompson moved in front for good on lap 20. Thompson also won a heat.

Top qualifier Chris Paulson (15.923) finished 11th in the 15-car field, nine laps down. Joe Rhodes won the other heat and the dash.


When: Saturday, Placer County Fairgrounds, 800 All America City Blvd., Roseville. Grandstands open at 4 p.m. Racing at 6:15 p.m.

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series: Modified (40-lap main), Street Stock (35), Bomber (35), Legends (35), Mini Cup (25).

Ticket prices: $13 for ages 16-59, $7 for seniors 60 and up and juniors 6-15, free for children 5 and under, $35 for a family pass (two adults, three juniors). Parking is $5 per vehicle.
