The Cat in the Hat will be making a special appearance at Marina Village Middle School in El Dorado Hills on Thursday, Nov. 3, and Friday, Nov. 4 when “Seussical, Jr”, a fun-filled musical based on some of the stories by Dr. Seuss is performed by 20 sixth- through eighth-grade students. The story follows the adventures of Horton the Elephant (Tom Janus) who becomes aware of the tiny Whos (Luke Latini, Amanda Gomez and JP Burke) who are living on a dust speck. Horton is determined to protect the Whos but ends up losing them and sitting on an egg for his neighbor Maizie (Jackie Limm), who’s got better things to do in Palm Beach. Despite the antics of The Cat in the Hat (Tyler Barth) and others, Horton stays loyal to the egg and with the help of his friend Gertrude (Delany Kelleher) even finds and saves the Whos. The show will be presented at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3-4 in the multipurpose room at Marina Village Middle School. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children (eighth grade and under). Families of four can purchase the “Family Fun Night” package for $15 which includes four tickets to the show (two adult, two child) and four free items from the concession stand. “Seussical Jr.” is sponsored by Marina Village’s Parent Teacher Council and produced by Art & Soul Productions. The show is directed by Kitty Czarnecki with musical direction by Kathy Kelleher. ~ Staff report
