The Folsom City Council issued a formal proclamation of Recognition and Appreciation for the volunteer work of Nellie Loo. Loo, a longtime member of the Friends of Folsom Public Library and champion of library services, Loo has managed the group’s fund-raising activities since 2002. After she joined the library group in 2001, she accepted the role of managing a book sale to help raise money for the library. That small book sale became a much larger endeavor. Throughout the year, 53 volunteers prepare the collections for sale. Books donated by Folsom residents are a mainstay of the group’s fundraising activities. Loo also manages the Booktique, a small bookstore in the library compound. Book fairs and Booktique sales have generated $160,000 in donations to the library’s programs and special needs, according to a press release issued by the Friends of the Folsom Public Library. ~ Staff report
