Lam wins, Folsom boys take second at Eagle Invitational

Vivian Lam won the varsity girls’ cross country race at the Eagle Invitational in Lodi on Friday, while the Folsom High boys placed second out of 33 schools. Lam led the entire race for the girls, finishing in 19 minutes, 46 seconds. Teammate Lisa Hoang ran 76th in 26:53. Sam Scheuer led the varsity boys’ team, as he took second, finishing the 3.2-mile course in 16:30. Aaron Burkhead ran sixth in 16:46, followed by Ryley Hoffman (11th, 17:10), Austin Bailey (13th, 17:16) and Jake Goodwin (15th, 17:19). Phil West (31st, 18:00), Cristiano Bobiles (56th, 18:55), Spencer Buelna (58th, 18:55) and Yuldai Sakguchi (117th, 21:25) rounded out the team’s runners. Wes Dewitt placed fifth in 11:22 to lead the freshman boys to a fourth-place finish. Jordan Denny (16th, 12:17), John Kretschmann (29th, 12:39), Jim Broff (27th, 13:07) and Will Randall (33rd, 16:30) also competed for the Bulldogs. Folsom had a handful of other participants in the event. Katie Bock and Muna Alhamad placed second and third in the freshman girls’ race, finishing in 12:43 and 13:01, respectively. Jenn Rees and Kaeti Park ran for the sophomore girls’ team, finishing in 30th (14:39) and 47th (15:44), respectively. Tim Scott participated in the sophomore boys’ race and finished 28th in 11:54. The Bulldogs will compete in the Delta River League championships at Willow Hills on Saturday.
