In one of their best performances of the season, Folsom High’s varsity girls’ volleyball team defeated Pleasant Grove on Tuesday in four games, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18 and 25-16. The win improved Folsom’s record to 2-2 in the Delta River League and 4-9 overall, as they get set to travel to Oak Ridge on Thursday. After dropping the first game, the Lady Bulldogs pulled together and fought for the victory, winning three straight games. “Both teams played well, but in the end we were able to make fewer mistakes while playing aggressively,” Folsom coach Cinnamon DaSilva said. “It wasn’t that we excelled in one part of the game more than another, but that we played all parts equally well. Tonight we were great because we all contributed more than we normally do.” Starting with the serve, Jaia Lockett, Kendyl Saunders and Tiana Lee earned the most points while serving, while Kaitlin McArthur had the best ace percentage. Saunders, Lockett and Shirley May led the way in kills, while May was also the team’s most efficient hitter on the evening. Lockett and Lee led the way in serve-receive with Saunders and Elyse Newton also reaching double digits. Solak had four blocks to lead the team. Saunders led the team in digs, while Lee and Lockett also reached double figures in digs. “Elise (Newton) did a great job getting back into the setting role,” DaSilva said. “Running the middle made a huge difference in our offense.”
