Fourteen out of 17 Folsom High junior varsity wrestlers came home from the Woodland JV wrestling tournament on Saturday with medals, making it a successful day for the program. Wrestlers were placed in five or six-man brackets and then competed in a round-robin tournament, competing against everyone in their bracket. There were three levels of experience: rookie, novice and skilled. No team score was kept. Folsom wrestlers finishing the day with gold medals included Matthew Parker (119), Ryan Thomas (141) and Jordan Alleva (187), who all went 5-0 in their respective divisions. Richie Johnson (125) also earned a gold medal with a 4-1 record. Eight Folsom wrestlers brought home silver medals, most of which only lost one match. Kyle Prado (125), Gabe Talley (135), Andrew Mendiola (135) and Alex Wood (171) all won four of five matches. Tony Hernandez went 2-1 and won a silver medal at 103, while Zack Lasker (125), Tianna Camous (125) and Ryan Jenson (140) all earned silver medals with 3-2 records. Bryant Stanberry and Morgan Angello, both competing at 170 pounds, earned bronze medals with 3-2 records. Nick Guzman (103), Christian Herrod (103) and Phillip Herrod (125) also competed at the tournament.
