Ryan Motsenbocker’s three-point attempt rattled out in the closing seconds Tuesday night, leaving the Granite Bay High boys basketball team two points short. The Grizzlies were involved in a tight battle from start to finish, with a 22-10 third quarter advantage being just enough to push Vista del Lago over the top to a 53-51 win. The squads were tied at 16-16 after the first quarter, but Granite Bay pulled to a six-point lead at intermission before the third quarter did it in. “We played one of our better games of the early part of the season, but in the end, the shots just didn't drop,” said Granite Bay coach Jason Sitterud. “It was a fairly competitive game throughout. Ryan Motsenbocker had a clean look at the three at the buzzer which went in and out.” Granite Bay held Vista to four points over the final eight minutes, but came up two points short in the end. Spencer Hatten scored 12 points to lead the way for the Eagles, and Demarcus Wishom and Mike Young each dropped in nine. John Davis of Granite Bay scored 14 to lead all scorers in the game, whild Robert Duncan added 13. The Grizzlies are in the Monterey Trail tournament beginning Thursday.
