Mark your calendar for the Cameron Park Community Services District’s Grillin' and Chillin' event Sept. 15 at Cameron Park Lake. The barbecue competition and event was formerly known as Rib Stock. Tina Helm, recreation supervisor for Cameron Park Community Services District, said this is an event in which seasoned grill masters as well as the amateur backyard grillers can compete side by side. There will be live music, a fun zone for children, crafts, vendors, exhibitors and “amazing food,” she said. For a $100 entrance fee, contestants can share their grilled masterpieces to include vegetables, meet, fish and poultry. Each entrant is asked to bring five pounds of whatever they grill for the people’s choice competition. Last year, Helm said between 2,000 and 3,000 people enjoyed the event.
