In a case involving an El Dorado Hills girl missing for a week in March, a federal grand jury Friday indicted Rishi Sanwal, 23, of El Dorado Hills on charges including sex trafficking of a minor. Sanwal allegedly took the victim, 17, to a Bay Area motel, then to Rocklin, allegedly posting from Rocklin a Craigslist “erotic services” Internet advertisement soliciting dates for her. Sanwal and the victim then returned to the Bay Area, where Sanwal is accused of posting additional listings advertising the girl for sex, according to United States Attorney McGregor W. Scott. Between March 18 and March 25, it is alleged Sanwal used force, fraud, and coercion to cause a 17-year-old girl to engage in prostitution. U.S. Department of Justice prosecutor Kyle Reardon said Sanwal gave the victim the name “Amy” and used that name when he posted ads on the Craigslist Web site. Offenses Sanwal is accused of carry a total sentence of 10 years to life in prison, Scott announced. Investigators from the FBI and the Sacramento Police Department made the case against Sanwal, Scott said. The Telegraph’s Roger Phelps can be reached at, or post a comment at
