The Gold Rush Invitational Golf Tournament will get a little help from a Sacramento team. At 8 a.m. on Friday, June 12, the Rotary Club of Historic Folsom is hosting its fifth annual golf tournament and this year it will feature players from the Sacramento River Cats. The tournament will be held at Empire Ranch Golf Course. The tournament, previously known as the Lockdown Classic, has been renamed this year as the Gold Rush Invitational. “We are thrilled to have the River Cats players participating in this year’s charity golf tournament”, said Gary Richard, tournament coordinator. “We have designed the tournament so that every golfer will have the opportunity to meet and play with some of our local minor league ballplayers.” The event benefits local charities. “This year’s tournament benefits both the Wheelchair Foundation and many charitable local activities of the Historic Folsom Rotary Foundation,” Richard said. “We want to raise the greatest amount of money possible for these two organizations. We already have tremendous support from many players and local businesses such as Kaiser Permanente, our title sponsor, Spencer Building Maintenance, Powerhouse Pub and also Folsom Lake Bank.” The Rotary Club of Historic Folsom is a service organization that contributes charitable activities to the Folsom and elsewhere. The club was chartered in April 2004.
