Gilliam just misses qualifying for state golf tournamentBy: Staff Report
Oh, so close….
Folsom Lake College’s Janet Gilliam made a valiant effort Tuesday to qualify for the California Community College Athletic Association’s State Golf Championship, but came up three strokes short, as she finished in a tie for 13th with a two-day total of 169.
Gilliam put herself in excellent position to earn the trip with a front nine score of 40 (including five straight pars), but came back with a 44 for a round of 84. Gilliam was attempting to become the third Folsom Lake College woman golfer to qualify for the state championship in as many years, following Lesley Winford in 2010 and Kristin Daniels in 2011.
