Get pampered in the new year at La Paris Salon in Folsom

As locals prepare to ring in the New Year, it might also be the time to get polished and prepped at Folsom’s new La Paris Salon.

La Paris Salon owner and manicurist Diane Winther opened the salon on Riley Street, in April. The salon offers hair, nail and wax services.

Winther has been a professional manicurist for 10 years prior to opening her own salon.

“I want to give people an upscale experience,” Winther said. “I don’t look at this as a job, it’s a passion. I love to take care of people.”

Winther said her salon has grown since opening through client referrals.

“A lot of my clients have been with me for the past eight or so years, so they refer me to other women,” she said. “But I still have some walk-in clients. I am very picky and particular when I work. I want the job done right. I have about a 90 percent return rate from my clients.”

She said another big part of her success is that she cares about the safety and cleanliness for her clients.

“I care so much because I’ve seen such bad, unclean nail salons,” she said. “I want people to know that when they come here they will have a luxurious service that is safe and clean from bacteria and diseases. I take the extra steps and precautions to bleach, sterilize all tools and prepackage all nail files and tools for each individual client. I believe that everything should be clean and safe.”

Winther said at La Paris Salon people will enjoy their experience and not be rushed.

“We give each person a good 45 minute appointment or more,” she said. “If a client is rushed, she will not fully enjoy her experience. I want each woman to feel comfortable and pampered.”

Winther also said she wants to help keep women’s nails naturally healthy.

“I use only natural products, nothing artificial,” she said. “I want to offer quality products.”

She also said she wants to help keep the real nail underneath the manicure healthy.

“I don’t do any drilling here,” she said. “I take care of your nails. I want your natural nails to be healthy so I protect them so they can grow back stronger.”

She has five full-time hair stylists and two part-time stylists at the salon. For nail services, Winther and one other manicurist are on staff.

“Part of my success is I am here as the owner to maintain the place,” she said. “And the staff here is so professional and trusting. Everyone is calm here – there is not any drama. We work as a team. We have individual stations, but we are all working here together.”

While working with Winther, locals can also help feed local cats and dogs.

“If you bring in a can of cat food I will give you a $10 gift card for nail services by me,” Winther said. “I will donate the canned food to my shelter in Washington called Make-a-Wish Pet Foundation.”

Also, when clients get their nails done by Winther, a portion of the fee will go to help a low cost spay/neuter and pet food program.

“I just care so much about animals and really want to help them the best that I can,” she said.
