By: Posted Nathan Donato-Weinstein
Assemblyman Ted Gaines was sworn in yesterday for his second term. The Roseville resident was one of 79 other legislators to take the oath of office Monday, including 25 new members of the Assembly, according to a release from Gaines’ office. “I am honored to have been re-elected by the voters in the 4th District, and am ready to fight hard to advance our agenda for California’s future,” Gaines said in the news release. “During the coming months, I look forward to working closely with my Republican colleagues as we propose common-sense priorities like balancing the budget without raising taxes and restoring government accountability.” In his first term, the former Placer County supervisor and Roseville planning commissioner was appointed to serve as Republican whip and on the Assembly Republican Budget Reform Task Force. Gaines ran unopposed for his 4th Assembly District seat, which includes portions of Placer, El Dorado, Sacramento and Alpine Counties. He and his wife, Beth, have six children.
