The Folsom Force under-13 boys’ soccer team finished their season winning six straight games over three weekends to capture the Association Cup Championship. This is the second year in a row the Force has taken the championship. In their final match, the Force played the rival Rocklin Red Devils. The first half finished 2-0 with goals by Miguel Medina and tough defense by Brandon Sarrels, Logan Clark, Conner Bishop, Austyn Ciampa and keeper Jackson LaCasse. The second half was much the same with stifling defense and numerous scoring opportunities. The frustration level was high for Rocklin, as the Force’s defense held them to a few scoring opportunities. Outside midfielders Kody Madore, Cameron McCoy, Chase Guerrero and Trevor Altman consistently won 50-50 balls while patiently building the attack. Medina completed a hat trick with his third goal while Guererro knocked in a goal assisted by a beautiful cross from Madore. Luke Avdalovic, Joey de Montel and Spencer Hoyle controlled the pace of the game in the middle while crushing any advance by Rocklin. After a late goal by Hoyle, the whistle blew and the Force became back-to-back champions with a score of 5-0. Chris Ciampa and Brian Altman coached the team. Official tryouts for the 2012-2013 season will be held Feb. 11-12 from noon to 1:30 p.m. and Feb. 16 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. at Livermore Park football field. Also from 3 to 4:15 p.m. this Saturday at Kemp 2, there will be an opportunity to meet the coaches and play some games as well.
