Back-to-school time is nearing for schools around the region and to kick-off the football season some are celebrating with school spirit.

The eighth annual Meet the Bulldogs Night fundraiser will be Friday, Aug. 23, at the Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma St., Folsom.

“It all started as a way to let our players be recognized in front of their family, friends and the community for all the work they put in,” Folsom High co-varsity coach Kris Richardson said. “From there it’s turned into one of our best fundraisers. It has received incredible community support and I’ve had nothing but positive feedback from it. It’s a great way to kick-off the season.”

Also celebrating the new season are the Oak Ridge High School Trojans at their Meet the Trojans night from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, at the El Dorado Hills Town Center.

“This is an invitation to come out and meet our football team. This is a great way to kick off the high school football and school season,” said Eric Cavaliere, Oak Ridge High School head football coach. “We include all levels including the Mighty Mites, 7-and 8-year-olds all the way through the varsity high school team.”

Cavaliere said there will be fun activities for families to help celebrate the new season.

“There will be our big inflatable helmet and a lot of navy and gold in Town Center,” he said. “We will have a DJ playing music and a lot of fun. This is not a fundraiser, just a way to get everyone fired up about football in El Dorado Hills. We want to create a lot of spirit and get us started on the right foot.”
