Folsom United lacrosse splits two games

The Folsom United varsity lacrosse team had a Jekyll and Hyde weekend, earning a 21-1 victory over the Sierra Foothills Eagles but losing 12-1 against the Chico Rebels. Eight players scored goals between the games with Austin Critz earning the most goals with five followed by other top scorers Mitch Barboza, Blake Overholt and Brian Keegan with three each. Keegan also earned a save as goalie in the Foothills game. Zach Grossfeld scored four goals in the two games, while Connor O’Donnell scored the lone goal in the Chico game. JV Folsom’s JV United won in double overtime 8 -7 against the Chico Rebels. Folsom fell behind 2-0 early in the first period and bounced back with goals by Ben Sheskier. Steven Bolten contributed four goals, including the winning goal in the second overtime period. Lucas Santos contributed with one goal and an assist. Sheskier got his third goal in the fourth period when he stole the ball from Chico’s goalie during a clear. Folsom led 7-6 with 12 seconds left in regulation when Chico scored on the final seconds to send the game to sudden death overtime. Matthew Kendrick did a great job intercepting Chico’s passes and blocked a shot in front of Chico’s goal in the second overtime period. Folsom’s goalie, Nick Antunes, had an excellent game blocking eight shots. The defensive and midfield players, Nick Klamm, Robert Fangon, Troy Walker, Nick Palmer, Peter Angelonides, Michael Young, Matthew Kendrick, Alex Kardasopoulos, Austin Ibanez and Carson Leonhardt kept up the Intensity throughout the game and moved the ball down field. 15-and-under Hawks The 15-and-under Hawks beat Granite Bay 13-0 and the Sierra Foothills Eagles, 6 -5. Jeremy Sommer scored eight goals between the two games. Bradley Winkleman had a big game as goalie against the Eagles. The Hawks led 4-1 in the fourth quarter, before the Eagles came storming back to take a 5-4 lead. The Hawks were able to even it up and then Sommer scored in the last seconds of the game to pull off the win.
