Eight black belt students from Folsom Taekwondo Center earned national titles at the 2012 United World Taekwondo Association’s National Championships, held Oct. 5 in Reno. The national champions included Adam Frega, William Wong, Cole Malibrain, Nick Latore, Casie Ryan, Ashley Hobert, Madeline Wong and Rhys Davies. Folsom Taekwondo has been operating in Folsom for 29 years and throughout the years has produced a number of national, world and international taekwondo champions; but, the eight students in one year sets a record for the school. "We are fortunate enough to have a lot of talented students with parents who are dedicated to their children’s success in the Folsom community,” said Instructor Jack Corrie. “The students who won the championships trained hard, got a lot of help from their classmates, who trained with them night after night. Their hard work paid off, as they won their sparring and poomsae divisions against some very tough competition. Everyone at the center are proud of these outstanding students.”
