Folsom showcases its depth at Nevada Union Invite

Despite losing two top runners to injuries on Friday and another during Saturday’s Nevada Union Invitational, Folsom High’s varisty boys’ cross country team showed its depth by taking second at the meet behind Reno. Sam Scheuer led the way for the Bulldogs, placing seventh in 17 minutes, 19 seconds. Aaron Burkhead and Jon Barrows posted top-20 finishes for the Bulldogs, Burkhead finishing in 17:26 and Barrows in 17:37. Ryley Hoffman (18:02), Austin Bailey (18:03) and Phil West (18:10) ran 21st through 23rd, respectively, while David Hanson placed 30th in 18:24. Other runners competing for the Bulldogs included Blake Shaw (18:35), Cristiano Bobiles (18:46), Mike Kinoshita (18:46), Spencer Buelna (19:15), Justin Monnot (21:50) and Zack Lasker (24:43). Three girls ran for Folsom’s varsity squad. Vivian Lam finished ninth in 20:54 and she was followed by Lisa Hoang in 52nd (26:56) and Justine Angelo in 53rd (27:04). The freshman-sophomore boys ran 11th, led by Tim Scott, who placed 29th in 20:08. Wes Dewitt (35th, 20:43), Jon Kretschmann (47th, 21:30), Jordan Denny (48th, 21:32), Jim Broff (23:50) and Matt Merrill (23:57) rounded out the Folsom runners. The freshman-sophomore girls ran 12th. Katie Bock was the team’s top finisher, as she posted a time of 21:56 to place 11th. Ashley Anderson followed in 24:49 with Jenn Rees (25:17), Muna Alhamad (25:29), Kaeti Park (27:02) rounding out the team.
