A nurse, who had worked at Mercy Hospital of Folsom, remains free on bail following his arrest on suspicion of sexually abusing one of his patients.

Daniel Ratner was arrested by Folsom police in late November. Since then his case has been turned over to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office for prosecution.

Court documents, filed in Sacramento Superior Court, claim Ratner sexually assaulted a patient who couldn’t care for herself.

The document states that Ratner “willfully and unlawfully touched an intimate part of Jane Doe (the unnamed patient) while she was medically incapacitated.”

The complaint goes on to state that Ratner did so “for the purpose of sexual arousal, sexual gratification and sexual abuse.”

The complaint also states that Jane Doe was “unlawfully restrained,” by the defendant and an “accomplice.”

Ratner also allegedly possessed child pornography and took photos or filmed an unnamed subject in a stage of undress without the individual’s knowledge or consent.

Shelly Orio, spokeswoman for the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, confirmed Friday that Ratner is no longer in custody.

He has been charged with sex felony counts including sexual abuse.
