The Folsom Middle School wrestling team took first at the county finals held at Toby Johnson Middle School in Elk Grove on Saturday. The event featured stiff competition from the southern county powerhouses but in the end Folsom Middle School edged out the host with 429 points to 397. Kerr placed third with a team total of 385 points. Individually Folsom had three wrestlers win their weight classes, two that took second, while eight placed third and five went away with fourth place. Folsom coach Tom Ward was surprised by the win. “I knew we were scoring high, but I didn't expect first place,” Ward said. “This is absolutely a great finish for the team; I couldn't be more proud of them.” Folsom travels to Elk Grove High School this week for the regional championships.
