Folsom Middle School wins Foothill Athletic League basketball title
By: Staff Report
Folsom Middle School’s seventh grade basketball team won the Foothill Athletic League championship with a come-from-behind 36-29 win over Rolling Hills. The Jaguars finished the year with an 11-1 record, losing to Rolling Hills earlier in the season before avenging the loss in the finals. Folsom trailed by two points entering the fourth quarter, but picked up the defensive intensity with a press and trap and went on to win the game. Folsom defeated Camerado in the first round of the playoffs, 42-15, before beating Rolling Hills to win the title. “One through 12, this is the hardest working most unselfish team I’ve coached in many years,” Folsom coach Chip Miller said. “They understand the team concept of the game and are all about winning – each player contributing what he can for the benefit of the team. They improved dramatically over the course of the season and have a great collective basketball future ahead of them.” Members of the team include Scott Bellis, Josiah Caler, Andrew Doe, T.J. Fulton, Ethan Giordano, Lucas Hendricks, Jason Moonen, Michael Penrose, Patrick Reinking, Josh Vandermeyde, Ryan Wert and Karson White.
