Folsom Lake College tennis team loses, golf team wins

The Folsom Lake College men’s tennis team lost a hard-fought match to Reedley College on Tuesday that was closer than the 8-1 final score indicated. Three singles matches went to three sets with Falcon sophomore Chowsaii Vang (No. 3 singles) coming up as the only Folsom winner. Nick Lord (No. 1 singles) lost 2 -6, 6-4, 3-6 and Nick Bacchini also lost in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6. The No. 3 doubles team of Kurt Marpuri and Mark Quimbo played tough but were turned back 8-5. The Falcons will play in the Modesto Tournament on Friday and Saturday in their final tune-up before beginning Big 8 Conference play on Tuesday at Shasta College. Golf team wins The men’s golf team played a non-conference match at Spring Creek Country Club in Ripon on Tuesday and came away with a win over conference rivals Modesto and Delta. The Falcons, who totaled 382, were led by Cole Zarecky’s round of 72 and Joel Slak’s 73. Luke Ivazian shot a 76, followed by Kevin Rose (80), Tanner Lichty (81) and Riley Swikhart (84). Delta shot a 388, while Modesto finished in 408 strokes. The golfers will play another non-conference match Thursday at Teal Bend before beginning Big 8 Conference play Tuesday at Stockton Country Club.
