Falcon golfers take second in Big 8 Tourney No. 5

The Folsom Lake College men’s golf team took second place in Thursday’s Big 8 Conference tournament No. 5 at Yolo Flyers Golf Club in Woodland, finishing five strokes behind winner and conference leader Santa Rosa.

It was an unusual day for the Falcons as FLC’s Joel Slak, the Big 8 scoring average leader, shot a six-over-par 78. The Falcons instead relied on steady play from Dylan Neal (72), Tom Crowther (74), and Brad Peil (75).

“We still managed to have six players shoot in the 70’s, so it was not a bad day for us,” said Coach Barry Zarecky. “But in order to win this conference, we’ve got to get just a little bit better. Thankfully, there’s still plenty of time.”

The team now has two weeks to regroup and work on their game before the next Big 8 tournament on April 2.
