Folsom Lake College men’s golf team starts season with school record
The Folsom Lake College men’s golf team started their season off in excellent fashion Tuesday with a fourth-place finish at the Stanford Invitational. The team shot a school-record 389 and was led by Drew Roberts, who tied for fourth overall with a 74. James Millward followed with a 75, while Luke Ivazian shot a 78. Cole Zarecky and Tom Crowther rounded out the Falcons’ scoring with 81s. Chabot won the tournament with a 363, followed by Foothill (383), Santa Rosa (385) and Folsom Lake (389). Thirteen schools competed in the invitational tournament. Despite the school-record low score, Folsom Lake coach Barry Zarecky feels there is still room for improvement. “Our fourth and fifth scorers really struggled on the greens today,” Zarecky said. “If they hadn’t three-putted as many holes as they did, we certainly could have finished third, maybe in the top two.” The Falcons travel to Brookside Country Club in Stockton on Thursday for a non-league match with Delta, Napa Valley and Santa Rosa.
