Folsom Varsity United, the 15-and-under Hawks and the 13-and-under Falcons won games this weekend for the Folsom Cordova Lacrosse Association. Folsom United varsity split games with a win over Redding and a loss to Petaluma this weekend. The United team overcame eight minutes of penalties to get a win over the Redding Red Hawks in a nail biter 4-3 game Sunday. Brian Anderson scored three and Colen Alens added one for the victory. Alex Michaels played tough defense and Colton Ziebarth played well at middle. The team had just come off a 15-4 loss to Casa Grande Saturday in Petaluma. Chris Widder scored two goals, while Connor O’ Donnell and Ziebarth each scored one. Zach Grossfeld had nine saves as goalie for the weekend. The young junior varsity team showed their inexperience during the weekend dropping both of their games, losing to Redding, 8-7 and Casa, 10-0. Lucas Santos-Cortez scored four goals, while Ben Sheskier added two and Wesley Matthews had the other. Defensively, goalie Nick Antunes battled and earned 13 saves against Redding. The 15-and-under Hawk team made a commanding appearance in Granite Bay, beating the Grizzlies 8-2. Hunter Holden scored three goals, while Caleb Patterson scored twice. Patrick Sullivan and Hagen Lendewig had outstanding defensive games. The 13-and-under Falcons came back strong from a loss earlier in the week in a well rounded scoring attack that gave the Falcons a 9-2 win over Sierra Foothills Eagles. Nine different players scored. Chase Browning and Bradford Petchauer scored one goal each in a 5-2 loss earlier in the week to El Dorado Hills. Joseph Sullivan made three saves in goal in first half and Alex Miller made six saves in the second.
