Folsom JV lacrosse team is No. 2 seed in Northern California playoffs
The Folsom United JV high school team finished the season with 12-game winning streak and is the No. 2 seed in the Northern California playoffs. The team finished strong by beating a tough Yuba City team, 5-4, on Saturday. Earlier in the week the United defeated Orangevale, 14-5 and Elk Grove, 15-6. Nathan Whitfield continued his strong play, as he scored nine goals and added eight assists in the three games. Cole Thompson scored 12 goals and added one assist. Tim Bonnington continued to show his dominance in faceoffs, winning more than 75 percent in three games. The defense, meanwhile continued to stop opponents with Caleb Pattersen, Paulo Garcia and Landon Feltsen leading the way, while goalie Chris Cudney continues to save more than 75 percent of the shots against him. Garrett Slatter stepped up his game with leading the attacks with five assists in these games, while Daniel Whitfield and Bonnington each had four goals and multiple assists. Jarod Hansen had two assists, and Jeremy Weber scored the deciding goal against Yuba city on his way to scoring two goals over those games, while Tyler Stock added an assist. The team finished the regular season as the highest scoring and assists JV team in Northern California NCJLA with 162 goals and 88 assists, showing excellent team play. The playoffs begins Saturday at Kemp Field at 10:45 a.m.
