Folsom Gourd and Arts Festival slated for September

Folsom Patrons of the Arts has announced the return of the Folsom Gourd and Arts Festival for its 15th season on Sept. 26-27. Local and regional artists will display and sell their work, featuring painted gourds as well as fine crafts, pottery, glasswork, paintings, wearable art, printmaking, sculpture, photography, fiber arts, jewelry and mixed media. Visitors will also enjoy dancing, entertainment, art demonstrations, food vendors, and even gourd cooking demonstrations. During both days of the event, well-known artists will demonstrate gourd art techniques including cutting, dying, and embellishing gourds. Leiser's Gourd Farm will be on hand with thousands of gourds for sale, and art suppliers will have the latest tools, books, and materials. Visitors will find everything from handmade brooms to wearable art, and from fine jewelry to rustic pottery. The Folsom Gourd & Arts Festival will be held in City Lions Park next to the Zoo Sanctuary at Natoma and Stafford streets in Folsom. This year’s festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The festival is sponsored by the Folsom Patrons of the Arts. Proceeds from the festival will benefit art events and activities in the Folsom community, as well an annual scholarship for high schools students interested in pursing careers in the arts.
