Folsom's under-15 Fury won the under-16 boys championship at the Davis Legacy Shootout Soccer Tournament this past weekend. After several second-place finishes this year, the Folsom Fury broke through in grand fashion, notching their first tournament championship. Assembled from the best freshman boys from both Vista Del Lago and Folsom High School soccer teams, the Folsom Fury, an age pure group of 14-year-old boys playing as first year under-16s, dominated the tournament on both the offensive and defensive ends, scoring a tournament high 21 goals while giving a stingy two goals in the four-game tournament. Folsom's defense was spectacular, pitching three shutouts, while on the offensive side they were just as impressive averaging 5.25 goals a game, most of those came in the first halves. Folsom beat the Chico Cal Puma, 5-0, the Stanford Solar Flares 7-0 and Auburn's 49er Arsenal, 4-0. The Elk Grove's '94 Heat was the only team to score on the Fury all weekend. The Fury wraps up league play early next month and will be tuning up for the District Cup Tournament the second and third weekends of December. Members of the team include Nathan Pavao, Jordan Fuller, Wahib Ead, Zach Jaeger, Jarrett Giordano, Lane Reisig, Alex Ford, Nick Michaels, Danny Jacobs, Matt Raymond, Cody Sherfy, Brandon Riel, Nathan LeMay, Evan Harling, Griffen Galvin and Ryan Balga.
