The Folsom Fury U16 boys soccer team capped an outstanding season by winning the CYSA Association Cup for their age group. The Association Cup tournament began with a weekend of preliminary rounds in which the Fury went 2-0-1, scoring eight goals while only conceding one. The Fury advanced to the single-round elimination games where they went 3-0-0, again scoring eight goals while conceding four. The three victories in single-round elimination propelled the Fury into the CYSA Association Cup Championship game where the Fury displayed outstanding teamwork and skill by defeating cross-town rivals, Fruitridge Real Santa Rosa, by a score of 4-0. Getting to the CYSA Association Cup championship game was no small feat for the Fury as they found themselves down 2-0 at halftime during their semi-final game. Their opponent, the Mission Boca Juniors of San Francisco, entered the last 10 minutes of regulation play still maintaining their 2-0 lead when fullback Danny Jacobs scored on an improbable shot from approximately 35-feet outside the opponents' goal. With less than three minutes remaining in regulation play the Fury scored again, tying the game and forcing overtime play. It wasn’t until the game entered its second 15-minute overtime period and with less than two minutes of play, the Fury scored their third goal to win the match. On their way into the CYSA Association Cup tournament, the Folsom Fury amassed a 23-9-5 record, scoring 92 goals and conceding 42.
