The Folsom Force under-12 boys’ soccer team finished league play on Saturday with a 2-0 win over the Elk Grove Scorpions in the District Cup championship. The Force and Scorpions are two of the top teams in the region and always put on a good show. This game was no different. The first half finished 0-0 with tough play by Force defenders Brandon Sarrels, Kody Madore, Conner Bishop, Austyn Ciampa and keeper Jackson LaCasse. The second half started off the same way with neither team able to get the ball in the net. Although Folsom had many opportunities the game looked to be going into overtime. Then with minutes to play, forward Logan Clark directed a pass off his head to midfielder Spencer Hoyle, who was able to shed a defender and angle a left-foot shot into the corner net. Minutes later, Clark added another to make the score 2-0. The whistle blew and the Force was crowned district champs, capping off a terrific 2010 in which they went 24-4-1 with 14 shutouts. Brian Altman and Chris Ciampa coached the team of Austyn Ciampa, Kody Madore, Jack Munoz, Logan Clark, Brandon Sarrels, Jackson LaCasse, Luke Avdalovic, Trevor Altman, Conner Bishop, Chase Guerrero, Robbie Burns, Miguel Medina, Cameron McCoy and Spencer Hoyle.
