The Folsom Craze, an under-13 girls’ select soccer team, recently came in second place at the Tall Trees soccer tournament in Palo Alto. The Craze lost their first game of the weekend, and then rebounded to tie one game and win their final two matches. After a tough 3-0 defeat to the Mill Valley Rockers, the Craze defense tightened up and did not allow another goal in their final three games. A 0-0 tie against the Alpine Strikers had the Craze near the bottom of the standings and in need of a strong final day of the tournament. The Craze offense got into gear during a 4-0 victory over the Almaden Quicksilver to set-up a final game for a possible medal. The Craze scored another 4-0 victory over the Central Marin Storm to secure second place in the tournament. The Folsom Craze, coached by Randy Anderson with assistant coaches Jim Zurbuchen and Bruce Backman, celebrated their highest tournament result of the year after previously finishing in fourth place at the Folsom Cup Classic. The Craze offense is led by forwards Sarah Anderson, Marissa Marks, Siena Miller and Nicolette Tavalero. Midfielders Jubilee and Moriah Backman, Jillian Elenberger, Davita Pandita, Angie Wang and Kristen Whitney set-up the Craze passing game and the defense is anchored by Cayla Harder, Ashley Klemens, Shilpa Reddy and goalies Annelise Manhart and Ally Zurbuchen. The Craze continues with Metro league play each Saturday and will participate in the District Cup in December.
