Folsom to be part of Amgen tour

-A +A
Organizers for the Amgen Tour of California announced today that Folsom will be included in the May 17 ride. Starting in Old Town Auburn, the riders will then head to Folsom via Folsom-Auburn Road. They will cross the Rainbow Bridge, Sutter Street and proceed on Riley to Blue Ravine Ravine Road. From there, they will take Prairie City Road and then Scott Road. "We are so excited to have the tour come through our town," said Armando Enriquez, sales manager at Bicycles Plus in Folsom. "We're so excited we might shut down for a half-hour and go watch." Enriquez said that he expects business to be good on May 17. "The tour draws a lot of people to watch," Enriquez said. "A lot of people don't know about pro cycling so I think they'll want to come and see what it's all about." The riders will head through Gold Country, including Ione and Oakdale. They will end the third stage in Modesto. Information about the first and second stages of the race were also released. Stage 1 takes place in Lake Tahoe. Stage 2 begins at Squaw Valley USA resort and ends in Sacramento. During the second stage, riders will travel through Truckee, endure a King of The Mountain climb at Donner Lake, and ride into Nevada City, which was a stage start city last year. That stage of the race will also go thorough Grass Valley before heading to Beale Air Force Base and eventually Downtown Sacramento.
