Folsom Attack wins soccer title

After losing in the finals twice in the last three years, the Folsom Attack, an under-14 girls’ select soccer team, finally won the Association Cup on Jan. 21, defeating the Petaluma Ballistic, 1-0. The team finished the season with the elusive win, following an outstanding season in which they also won the District Cup Challenge Cup in December and also finished league play with an undefeated record. Members of the team include Ariane Arndt, Madison Brenton, Morgan Carter, Alex Destafeno, Paige Florio, Alondra Gonzalez, Kaylie Greathouse, Amanda Gudino, Catalina Guzman, Ashlee Mering, Jenna Pregent, Tracy Raffetto, Karina Williams, Alicia Riel and Mia Yanez. Michael Raffetto, Mike Cino and Eric Williams coach the Attack. “The girls worked extremely hard to reach the high level of success that culminated with the Association Cup Championship,” coach Raffetto said. “The coaches and parents are so proud of the commitment and dedication to the game of soccer that our girls have achieved this season.”
