The Folsom American Little League Major All-Stars are still alive in the District 54 Tournament following a 5-3 win over Gold Rush on Thursday. Will McClure allowed two runs and struck out five in 4 1/3 innings, and also hit a two-run double and a solo home run to lead the way. Folsom trailed 2-0 after half an inning, but got one run back in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Tylor Rhee, which scored Kyle Foerstel who had singled. In the bottom of the second, Josh Hook singled and Jacob Jones doubled to put two runners on. McClure followed with a two-run double to put Folsom up 3-2. His solo home run in the fourth inning made it 4-2. Gold Rush cut the lead to 4-3 in the fifth, but Folsom American added an insurance run in the fifth when Ryan Larocca’s infield single scored Tyler Kaim. Today Folsom American plays Woodcreek at 5 p.m. with the winning advancing to tomorrow’s 7 p.m. game, while the losing team is eliminated. “There are four teams left and we’ve got a mountain to climb,” Folsom American Manager Bill McClure said. “We will have to play a perfect game to advance.” Folsom American dropped to the loser's bracket following a 6-1 loss to Roseville West on Wednesday. Rhee had two doubles and knocked in Foerstel for the team's lone run.
