Folsom High’s freshman-sophomore girls’ cross country team won the Trojan Invitational on Saturday, while the boys’ squad placed third and the varsity boys finished fourth. The young Lady Bulldogs had a great day, scoring 33 points to runner-up Oak Ridge’s 39 to win the meet. Sarah Anderson won the race, finishing the 3.4-kilometer course in 13 minutes, 57 seconds; the fourth-fastest time by a Folsom runner. Muna Alhamad placed second, 12 seconds behind her teammate, while Katie Bock, who led most of the race, ran third in 14:16. Michelle Hanson and Lindsey Bailey placed 13th and 14th in 15:42 and 15:45, respectively, to round out the scorers. Logan Kohne led the boys’ squad, running seventh in 12:44. Jon Kretschmann placed 10th in 12:45, followed by Weston Dewitt (12th, 12:46), Travis Vo (24th, 13:03) and Matt Hopper (53rd, 13:46). Kretschmann’s time was a 33-second personal record. Folsom placed third behind McClatchy and Oak Ridge. Vivian Lam had another strong run, placing fourth in the varsity girls’ race in 19:51. Ashley Anderson (80th, 25:22), Jen Rees (82nd, 25:40) and Kaeti Park (101st, 27:38) rounded out the team. Running without Mike Kinoshita and Jacob Goodwin, the varsity boys still turned in a solid fourth-place finish behind Pleasant Gove, Vacaville and Lodi. Sam Scheuer led the way by placing second in 16:42. Vinnie Morin and Jon Barrows earned top-20 finishes, Morin placing 14th in 17:49 and Barrows in 18th in 18:11. Blake Shaw ended up 37th in 18:56, while Cristiano Bobiles rounded out the scorers in 39th in 19:00. The junior varsity boys’ team placed fourth. Alex Haines was the team’s top finisher, as he finished the race in 19:46 and in seventh place. Alex Blake posted a time of 20:05, good enough for ninth place. Shawn Voon (27th, 22:24), Jake Stern (28th, 22:26) and Pete Merrill (35th, 22:57) also scored for the team.
