Families can find plenty to do

With Thanksgiving over and Christmas right around the corner, there is no shortage of holiday-themed events to get families in the spirit of the season. Folsom dancers perform in Auburn's 'Nutcracker' production Nov. 29-30, Dec. 6-7 -- Some Folsom kids are performing in the Placer Theatre Ballet’s 11th annual production of “Nutcracker,” running from Nov. 29-30 and Dec. 6-7 at Placer High School in Auburn. The performers are Ellery Curran, 10; Taylor Fox, 5; Hannah Fox, 9; Ruth Langill, 15; Naomi Langill, 13; Daniel Langill, 9; Larissa Liden, 8; Eva Winger, 15; and Isabelle Winger, 15. EDH Town Center gets Santa visit Nov. 29 -- In El Dorado Hills, head over to the Town Center for their annual tree lighting and holiday party on Saturday, Nov. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. Hot cider and cookies will be served while entertainment will be provided by Oak Ridge High School's dance and choir teams, El Dorado Musical Theater, Center Stage Dance Academy and others. The evening will also feature face painting, an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus and strolling Victorian carolers. 'Holiday in the Hills' continues at Stage Nine Through Dec. 28 -- The Stage Nine Theater production "Holiday in the Hills" continues its run with new songs and dance numbers. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are $22 for general admission, $20 for seniors and $15 for children. For more information, call 353-1001. Outdoor ice skating rink open in Folsom Through Jan. 25 -- Folsom is now home to the second outdoor ice skating in the region. The 5,000-square-foot rink is located near the end of Sutter Street by the Folsom Chamber of Commerce. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. through Jan. 25. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. There is an additional $2 skate rental fee. All sessions are two hours. The rink also offers group rates. 'Winnie the Pooh' comes to Folsom Dec. 6-30 -- The Stage Nine Theater, on Sutter Street in Folsom, will present “A Winnie-the-pooh Christmas Tail” beginning Saturday, Dec. 6 and running through Dec. 30. Show times will be Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 and 4 p.m., with special weekdays shows at 1:30 p.m. during Christmas week.
