The Folsom Lake College women’s golf team ended a streak of five consecutive fifth-place finishes Tuesday when they grabbed third place at the ninth Big 8 Tournament at Bidwell Golf Course in Chico. The Falcons’ team total of 350 was their lowest score of the year (by 16 strokes) and third lowest all-time. Sophomores Kristin Daniels and Lesley Winford led the team and tied for the third-lowest individual score of the tournament with identical rounds of 78. Morgan Schley and Heather LaVergne both broke 100 with scores of 95 and 99, respectively. Annamaria Armijo-Hussein rounded out the Falcons’ top five with a 119. The Falcons moved within four points of Sierra College in the battle for fourth place in the Big 8 standings with just three tournaments remaining. Modesto won the tournament with a 325, while Sac City placed second in 329. Sac City leads the Big 8 standings with 118 points, followed by Modesto (114), Delta (90), Sierra (66), Folsom Lake (62), American River (30) and Butte (8). The Falcons travel to Rocklin tomorrow to play Big 8 Tournament No. 10 at Whitney Oaks Golf Club.
