Everyone comes away a winner at the Special Rodeo
By: Staff Report
The California High School Rodeo Association’s District 3 will hold a Special Rodeo for those cowboys and cowgirls with special needs at the Lincoln Rodeo Arena, March 11, following the regular competition. The Thundering Three are calling all those mentally and physically challenged to gather at the rodeo grounds for the second half of Sunday’s events. Registration begins at 11 and the “competition” starts at noon. These cowboys and cowgirls will get a chance to ride a “bull,” a “bronc,” and try their hands at roping, “goat” tying, and barrel racing. Every participant comes away a winner and gets a free hot dog lunch and gifts – not to mention some fantastic memories and a lot of new friends. Prior to the special rodeo, both Saturday and Sunday, will be District 3’s regular competition. The action begins at 8 a.m.; rough stock starts around 10. The day wraps up around 3 p.m. with barrel racing. Spectators and fans are encouraged to come out for both days and stay for the Special Rodeo. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge. A snack bar is available with great barbecue. For those wanting to participate or help with the Special Rodeo call Tay or Jennifer Creeks (530) 333-4910; or e-mail CHSRA3@msn.com.
