EL DORADO HILLS, CA - If past attendance is any indicator, this year’s Concours de Elegance at Serrano is sure to be a crowd pleaser. The Niello Concours at Serrano showcases some of the best motorcars in the country. This year the Sunday, Oct. 7 event features the Marque of Pierce Arrow and celebrates 50 years of the Cobra honoring Carroll Shelby. Now in its ninth year, the Concours will be held at the Serrano Country Club from10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Car enthusiasts and collectors from all over will shine and show off their vintage Jaguars, old school Volkswagens, Mercedes and Mustangs, just to name a few. Hundreds converge on the country club to sip wine and ogle the gleaming pieces of machinery.  “Every year is more successful,” said Sacramento area car dealer Rick Niello, whose company is the title sponsor. At last year’s event, classic cars including a1962 JF VRC race car, a 1965 J-1 Jaguar and a classic 1948 U-Class MG, were on display during the day-long event. John and Carmen Clemens, of El Dorado Hills, entered their 1959 Chevrolet Corvette for the car show last year. This is their third time at the show. “The cause is good,” John said. “When we go to shows, it has to be for a charity.” A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the Concours Foundation. The group’s mission is to provide education, resources, grants and funding to teenage youth in the areas of safe and sober driving. Local car buff Greg Madsen said, although he doesn’t own a classic or vintage vehicle, he makes it a point each year to enjoy the Councours at Serrano. “It’s a great way to spend an early fall day,” Madsen said. “We have a cocktail, grab some lunch and check out the cars that are way too expensive for me to afford.” Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are admitted at no charge with a paid adult.
