With summer heating up, there?s no shortage of fun to be had in El Dorado Hills this season, and Town Center is right in the thick of things this time of year. Live on the Boulevard is Town Center?s Thursday night concert lineup, which began June 21 and runs until just after Labor Day. ?We wanted to bring something fun to the area, and music was something that we hadn?t done before. We started with a 10-series season, which included a lot of jazz. This year it will be a 12-week concert series,? said Natalie Buerki, marketing director for the center. ?The amphitheater was designed with something like this in mind, and it?s just an amazing venue.? The family-friendly concerts, which take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday nights throughout the summer at the center?s Steven Young Amphitheater, offer a venue where families can set up blankets and chairs, sit back and relax. ?It started as a concert where people came and relaxed and listened, but now we have a full amphitheater and a lot of people dancing, as well as relaxing. We have a wide range of visitors of all ages,? Buerki said. ?We definitely have a lot of families and groups, as well as couples and individuals.? Upcoming concerts include tribute bands, like ?Joel: the Band,? a Billy Joel Tribute band and ?Sun Kings,? a Beatles Tribute band. ?There is so much talent in the region, we wanted to bring in local bands and offer great music,? Buerki said. Music lovers can visit the website and click on the events page. In addition to Thursday night fun, the center?s Showcase Saturdays offer an evening with live music, as well as merchants offering discounts and samples of their wares. The event is Town Center?s newest outreach to the community. ?The response has been positive,? said Glenda La Marr, the center?s media specialist. ?There were over 1,000 attendees at the launch event in May.? The center is filled with restaurants and merchants who love the exposure that the summer events bring. ?This is an opportunity for all our businesses to showcase what they have,? Buerki said. ?Massage Envy might be out giving free shoulder massages on the sidewalk, local wineries and breweries bring their products for sampling, and businesses are doing special giveaways. The event really has a fair feel to it.? Showcase Saturdays are the fourth Saturday of the month, and they begin at 3 p.m. and end with an evening concert from 8 to 9:30 p.m. ?July?s concert will feature Rock Monsterz, a local cover band that has been doing really well,? Buerki said. ?And in September we will close the road down and bring in a car show with the proceeds benefiting Canine Companions Institute, an organization that trains dogs for the blind.? Visitors can also check out the food specials and giveaways during the event. On July 3, El Dorado Hills Town Center will present their third-annual Fireworks Jubilee from 6 p.m. to midnight. The event will include a chili cook-off, concerts on three stages, and a play area for the kids.
