Vista del Lago’s varsity softball team enters spring break with a 2-0 Sierra Valley Conference record and winners of four of its last five games.
Last week proved to be a good one for the Eagles, starting with a 7-6 win over Cosumnes Oaks March 19. The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the game. Gaby Segura’s two-out, walk-off double won the game for the Eagles.
Olivia Brown, Cherise Silvan, Ashley Muzzi, Lindsey Fenton and Emily St. Dennis each had two hits to lead the offense.
The Eagles led 4-0 after the first inning, before Cosumnes Oaks scored six unanswered runs to take a 6-4 lead in the fourth inning. The scene was then set for Vista’s comeback victory, culminating with Segura’s game-winning hit.
At the Le Doux tournament in Roseville, Vista won three of four games, beating St. Francis, 3-1, Sutter, 11-9 and Del Oro, 8-6, while losing to Roseville, 9-0.
Nicole Bruns and Delaney Howard led the way offensively at the tournament. Bruns had three hits against St. Francis, two vs. Sutter and knocked in two runs in the win over Del Oro. Howard had four hits against Sutter and scored four runs, while adding two hits in the win over Del Oro.
Lauren Reed, Ashley Muzzi, Segura and Emily St. Dennis also had two hits against Sutter, while Cherise Silvan and Emily Moran had two hits against Del Oro.
Vista’s next game is at home against Liberty Ranch on April 2.
