Vista del Lago had plenty of offense Wednesday against Oak Ridge, scoring nine runs on 11 hits, but still lost the game 16-9.
While Vista had a good day at the plate, 10 of their 11 hits were singles. Oak Ridge proved to have a little more pop with the bat, as six of their 15 hits went for extra bases, including two home runs, a triple and three doubles. Vista pitcher Olivia Brown had a long afternoon. Not only was she hit hard, but she also walked seven batters and threw 174 pitches.
Trailing 3-0, Vista got a run back in the bottom of the second inning when Emily Moran singled, moved to third on a hit by Lauren Reed and scored on Gaby Segura’s bunt single.
Oak Ridge, however, broke the game wide open with a 10-run fourth inning. Vista came back to score five in the bottom of the inning, but never got any closer.
Ashley Muzzi, Brown, Reed and Segura each had two hits for Vista, while Lindsey Fenton, Brown and Segura each drove in a pair of runs. The bottom of the batting order, Brown, Reed and Segura, did most of the damage for the Eagles with six hits and four RBIs in 11 at bats. They only managed to score one run, however, as the top of Vista’s order only had one hit in seven at bats.
Vista also played well defensively with only one error, but Oak Ridge found the open spots in the field and hit them.
Vista returns to action today when it hosts Del Campo at 4:15 p.m.
