Vista del Lago’s varsity boys’ soccer team wrapped up a near perfect regular season on Wednesday with a 6-0 win over Cosumnes Oaks. The Eagles finished the year with a perfect 12-0 record in the Sierra Valley Conference, dominating every opponent, and is 15-0-1 on the season with only a tie to Granite Bay keeping the team from perfection. The Wolfpack, like the rest of the league, were no match for the Eagles. Vista scored four goals in the first 15 minutes of the game and put it on cruise control the rest of the way, adding a pair of goals in the second half. Tim Fairley scored three of Vista’s goals on a night the team honored its 11 seniors. Alex Ford scored a pair of goals, while senior Mark LePage also found the back of the net. Senior Ryan Curcio had three assists, as Fairley, Ford, LePage, senior Jake Murphy and Curcio controlled things on top all night long. Seniors Chris Bringgold, Alex Vretzos, Munraj Singh, Brendan Fitzgerald, CJ Moore and Anthony Rodriguez also celebrated senior night with spirited play, while fellow senior Brandon Wallace was also honored for his contributions to the team this season. “It felt great to get a hat trick on senior night,” Vista’s Tim Fairley said after the game. “It’s a great way to end the last league game. We’ve played great this season and everything is going well and I hope we can keep it going. We’ve just got to keep our focus. We’re confident for the playoffs, but not cocky.” Vista coach Joe Esfandiary is pleased with his team’s performance and he called for the more of the same type of play in the playoffs. “We’re not going to change anything,” Esfandiary said. “We always practice hard and we’ll continue to practice hard. If we play like a team we should be OK and have a lot of fun.”
